Maytag MSS25C4MGZ Review

The side by side Maytag MSS25C4MGB is excellent value for money, with stylish looks, generous, family sized, capacity and a consistent customer reputation for build quality, reliability and performance.

Refrigerator:

The refrigerator section of the Maytag MSS25C4MGB is designed to comfortably accommodate your family’s shopping needs. The model's 15.4 CU ft interior is attractive, solidly built and well organised to make maximum use of the space.

The bottom half of the MSS25C4MGB's interior is dominated by two large see through humidity crispers which should do an excellent job at storing a generous amount of fresh produce.

In the shelving area above, the MSS25C4MGB features three attractive, height adjustable, glass shelves which are solidly built and easy to clean. Maytag, like most manufacturers these days, have raised the edges of their shelves to ensure that spills do not travel downward. As an added bonus, one of the shelves has an attractive clear plastic compartment that you can slot in below to store extra goods and take advantage of the large interior space.

In the door space, MSS25C4MGB series’ attention to detail continues. Constructed from, stylishly crafted, clear and white plastic, the in the door bins are fully height adjustable, extremely durable and give you plenty of space and flexibility to store all your condiments and drinks. In the door bins are topped by a closable clear and white plastic compartment perfect for storing your cheeses, eggs and butter.

This model’s well planned interior is impressive, however, the single most convincing fact about our review, qualifying the MSS25C4MGB for recommendation is the huge amount of praise it receives from customers for its performance and reliability. If you are a family looking for a large, reliable and powerful fridge/freezer, this model is an excellent choice. A real steal for its all-round quality, you can expect it to keep your food and drinks at excellent freshness.

Freezer:

The MSS25C4MGB series' freezer space of 9.1 CU ft is large, making it ideal for family use or couples who require a lot of freezer space. Its glass shelf design is attractive, making this side by side freezer a compliment to any kitchen space.

The MSS25C4MGB series side by side freezer offers what no bottom freezer, top freezer or French door refrigerator can: The ability to store your frozen goods across several levels of space in a way that is highly visible and immediately accessible. Despite the freezer’s relatively narrow build, Maytag optimises the space by offering a double bin and three adjustable shelves. While this is not the optimal design to hold multiple, unusually wide items, such as extra large pizzas (and these would need to be tilted), the MSS25C4MGB series will hold anything else beautifully.

Maytag’s through the door ice maker design takes away some of the in the door cubby space, however, the cubbies that remain, are very well built and attractive and offer some useful additional storage space. The advantage of the through the door ice maker design is that it doesn't diminish the main shelving space where the bulk of your food storage will take place.

Most importantly, customer responses regarding this model’s freezer are excellent throughout. When you consider the freezer’s capacity and the performance that the words of it’s enthusiastic owners promise, it is clear to see why the MSS26C6M series stands with the best in its price range.

Noise:

Customers state that, during regular function, this refrigerator is very quiet. Some have commented that the ice maker, when in use, can be somewhat loud while dispensing, which is a common phenomenon encountered in through the door ice makers and not an issue for most people.

Exterior:

A refrigerator review would be incomplete if it did not also consider aesthetics. The MSS25C4MGB is a stylish, full sized, side by side model that should fit very well into most kitchen spaces. Depending on your taste, this model is available in black, white and stainless steel. We are particularly fond of the visual effect of the ice maker's minimalist design and slick black control panel, along with the refrigerator's long, solidly built, handles. As is common with stainless steel models, some regular wiping may be necessary to keep the refrigerator looking at its best, especially if you have children.

Ice-maker/Water-dispenser:

The vast majority of users attest to the ice maker creating a very good amount of crushed or cubed ice at a fast pace. Excellent.

Maytag’s water dispenser is also well built and easy to access and its water filters are often praised for making water taste better than the tap. Great if you want a handy source of fresh cold water.
